Mr. Shimamoto solo exhibition was opened from
the 3rd of April to the 10th of May at
Hofficinad'arte gallery
in Rome, with Achille Bonito Oliva as the curator.
He was also invited to show a Gutai work at Palazzo Barberini in
Rome (April, 2-5). The curator was Achille Bonito Oliva.
Last but not least, Studio Morra and Pari&Dispari Agency displayed Shimamoto's works at Rome Contemporary Art Fair (April, 2-5). |

First
quarter 2009 |
Mr. Shimamoto painted over 400 aluminium panels for the company
Felissimo. The plates
was embedded in a wall of the new branch in Shanghai, facing the
site of 2010 Expo Shanghai. |

November 2008 |
Mr. Shimamoto was in Bologna and Genoa in November. He did
two performances. The first at
Museo Magi 900 in Bologna
on the 11th, and the second in
Piazza Matteotti in Genoa on the 13th. A
five-month
exhibition was held in Villa Croce Contemporary Art Museum.
Mr. Achille Bonito Oliva was the curator of the events in Genoa.

In Bologna Shimamoto received the Peace Prize
that for 28 years Museo Magi 900 gave to the respective Nobel Peace
Prize laureates!

May 2008 |
Mr. Shimamoto was in Capri and Naples from the 3rd to the 12th of May to make new
works for the newborn Associazione Shozo Shimamoto. Two public events
were also held: the first in Punta Campanella on the 4th (16:00) and
the other in Capri at Certosa di San Giacomo on the 9th (16:00).

June-November |
From the 9th of
June to the 5th of November, some representative works from Mr.
Shimamoto were shown in Venice at Palazzo Fortuny. This exhibition was
conceived by Mr. Mattijs Visser and Mr. Axel Vervoordt.

Shimamoto participated in
and was involved in the organization of the event Art Challenged
Project in Beijing. A large group of disabled artists from Japan
contributed to an exhibition in Beijing.

Mr. Shimamoto
was present at the Venice Biennale P3 Project as a special guest on the
9th of June.
He then did a performance at Lido on the 10th of June.

November a new space for Shimamoto Collection was inaugurated in Reggio

Mr. Shimamoto
was invited by the Chinese government to do a performance in Beijing and
Chang Xing. His work of art will be featured in a monument in Chang
Xing.

Mr. Shimamoto’s activities in a 45-min-long documentary program,

Mr.
Shimamoto opened a solo exhibition in Reggio Emilia, Italy, with the
presentation of the smallest work in the world, made on the tip of the
bristles of a toothbrush. The project is called “Nano-Art”. |

The exhibition
at Trevi Flash Art Museum, (in Italy) opened with a performance in which
Mr. Shimamoto threw colors from a helicopter. |

From the end of
2004 to the first half of 2005, Mr. Shimamoto's crane performance was
featured in the TV advertisement of Nissan's Shift. |

| Shimamoto’s head has become the trademark of his free art. He is the only professor who travels around the world and invites people to paint or to put something on his head. |
|
|
| Heiwa no Akashi (Proof of Peace) is a work realized primarily by throwing bottles filled with colors onto a canvas of cement, during a crane performance. The piece is supposed to be continued for 100 years. The intention is that if it can be sustained that there will be no incidence of war in Japan for 100 years, the completion of this work can be the proof of that period of peace. The work is located in Shin Nishinomiya Yacht Harbour. |

| This is a unique kind of art conceived by Shimamoto whereby the whole body of one or more naked girls is painted with Indian ink. The girls then lie down on a sheet of Japanese paper leaving the mark of their body. A performance of nyotaku has recently taken place in Venice at Ca’ Pesaro International Gallery of Modern Art (April 2004). |

| Shimamoto has continued to do performances and happenings since the time he was member of Gutai. He is considered one of the 4 greatest post-war artists, along with Jackson Pollock, John Cage and Lucio Fontana. |
